The Mind-Body Connection

Mood, metabolism, sleep, and weight are not separate systems. How you feel mentally affects how your body functions — and vice versa.

A Note to My Existing Patients

If you are a current psychiatric patient transitioning with me to Dixon Mind & Body Health — your care will not be disrupted. Same provider, same relationship, same clinical approach.

What changes: a new practice name, and a more streamlined, efficient experience through updated systems. What does not change: your medications, your treatment plan, your appointments, and the care you have come to expect.

You are not required to participate in the GLP-1 program. Your psychiatric care continues exactly as it has — now under a practice built specifically around integrated, whole-person care.

Why Integration Matters

Most providers treat one or the other. I treat both — because the connection between psychiatric health and metabolic health is not incidental. It is foundational.

  • Psychiatric medications affect metabolism

Many psychiatric medications affect weight, appetite, and metabolic function. Having one provider manage both means these effects are monitored, anticipated, and addressed — not discovered later.

  • Metabolic health affects psychiatric outcomes

Untreated depression, anxiety, and ADHD are leading drivers of GLP-1 dropout. Patients who receive integrated psychiatric care alongside GLP-1 therapy have dramatically better outcomes.

  • GLP-1 medications affect mood and cognition

GLP-1 receptor agonists have neurological effects — on appetite regulation, mood, anxiety, and motivation. A psychiatric nurse practitioner is uniquely positioned to monitor and respond to these effects.

  • No referrals. No handoffs. No gaps.

When both domains are managed by one provider who carries your full story into every visit, nothing falls through the cracks. That is the Dixon Mind & Body Health difference.

Metabolic Care Done Right

Brand-name GLP-1 therapy managed by a clinician who sees the psychiatric and behavioral dimensions of your metabolic health — not just the number on the scale.

Medications like Wegovy, Mounjaro, Ozempic, and Zepbound are powerful tools. They work best when managed within the full context of your mental health, eating behaviors, and life. That is the care you get here.

Dual Board Certification

I am one of a small number of providers in Massachusetts holding dual board certification as both a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and an Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP-BC). This means your psychiatric and metabolic health are managed together — by one clinician, in one relationship, with one complete picture of your health.

My path to this practice started with a B.S. in Psychology from UMass Amherst — a foundation that shaped how I think about behavior, motivation, and the mind-body relationship long before my clinical training began.

I went on to complete my ANP training at the MGH Institute of Health Professions and my PMHNP training at Vanderbilt University, earning dual board certification in both adult primary care and lifespan psychiatric mental health.

I built Dixon Mind & Body Health because I kept seeing the same thing: patients whose weight struggles were deeply connected to untreated depression, ADHD, or anxiety — and no one treating both together. The result is a practice where your medication plan, therapeutic work when appropriate, and metabolic care are designed to support each other. Most care is delivered via telehealth, with limited in-person availability at our Andover, MA office.

Frequently Asked Questions

Transparent answers to help you decide if Dixon Mind & Body Health is the right fit for you.

Not at all. Both services are available independently. Psychiatric care is billed through your insurance and has no connection to the GLP-1 program. The GLP-1 membership is a separate cash-pay service — no psychiatric diagnosis or ongoing psychiatric treatment required to enroll. Many patients choose both, but it is entirely your decision.
Very little that affects your care. You will have a new practice name, a new patient portal through Charm EHR, and a new secure messaging platform. Your provider, medications, treatment plan, and appointment schedule remain exactly the same. You will receive formal communication with all the details before anything changes.
For psychiatric services, we are currently in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, United Healthcare, Harvard Pilgrim, and Mass General Brigham (MGB). We do not currently accept Medicare or MassHealth. If you are unsure about your specific plan, email us at info@dixonmindbodyhealth.com before scheduling.
Your $249/month membership covers all clinical services: initial evaluation, monthly follow-up visits, dose titration, psychiatric screening, lab ordering, prior authorization assistance, and manufacturer copay card enrollment support. Medication is purchased separately at a pharmacy of your choice. Clinical visits are cash-pay. We help you navigate manufacturer savings programs to reduce your out-of-pocket medication cost as much as possible.
The FDA has resolved GLP-1 medication shortages and is actively restricting compounded versions of semaglutide and tirzepatide. Brand-name medications are manufactured under strict FDA quality control, have extensive clinical data, and carry no regulatory risk. We prescribe Wegovy, Ozempic, Zepbound, and Mounjaro — and we assist every patient in accessing manufacturer savings programs to make medication as affordable as possible.
Labs are ordered through your insurance whenever possible. Out-of-pocket lab costs apply only if you are uninsured or specific extenuating circumstances exist. We always communicate any anticipated costs before ordering.
Most care is delivered via HIPAA-compliant telehealth, making it accessible throughout Massachusetts. Limited in-person appointments are available at our Andover, MA office. Please let us know your preference when you reach out.
I provide evaluation and medication management for depression, anxiety disorders, ADHD, mood disorders, and related conditions. I do not currently treat acute psychosis, active substance use disorders, or eating disorders requiring significant interdisciplinary care. If you are unsure whether your needs are within our scope, please reach out — I am happy to discuss before you schedule.
The first 15 patients who enroll in the GLP-1 program are locked in at $199/month for life — no matter what the standard rate becomes as the practice grows. This is our way of thanking early patients for trusting us from the beginning. Email us to claim your spot.
When you see separate providers for psychiatric and metabolic care, each one only has part of your story. Medication decisions made in one context can have unintended effects in the other — and those effects often go unnoticed. When one dual board-certified provider manages both, every decision is made with full awareness of your complete health picture. No referrals, no handoffs, no gaps.
